Planar Energy, the developer of large-format, solid-state, ceramic-like batteries at half the cost and triple the performance of lithium-ion batteries, is one of four companies selected to collaborate in a U.S. Department of Energy research-and-development initiative. (Read more)

Two Palm Beach County Companies are strengthening and expanding operations with jobs & worker training grants. Infinity Sales Group, LLC plans to add 200 jobs, and Belcan Corporation plans to add 50 jobs. (Read more)

Sunovia Energy Technologies Inc., which designs, develops and markets highly efficient renewable energy and energy conservation products in the solar and LED lighting industries, plans to triple the size of its facility and add 68 employees in a relocation to Sarasota County. (Read more)

Officials from NASA joined Florida Power & Light Company to commission FPL's Space Coast Next Generation Solar Energy Center. The new solar photovoltaic power facility is the result of a unique public-private partnership between NASA and FPL and demonstrates both organizations' commitment to bringing clean-energy solutions to the state. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has awarded funds to several Florida nonprofits to establish Health Information Technology Regional Extension Centers. Community Health Centers Alliance in St. Petersburg will receive $10.9 million, Univeristy of Central Florida will receive $7.6 millio,, and University of South Florida was awarded $5.8 million.
